Making Waves

We've been busy as usual the past few weeks, which is why I haven't had time to blog much. We've been so busy, that we've been forgetting to take pictures! Mommy started a pilates class with Nana, which allows for my sister and I to have some extra Daddy time two days a week! I have a lot of fun wrestling and playing hide and seek with P. Daddy! I returned to the pediatric urologist as well, who informed us that the surgery was 98% effective. I still have a slight bit of reflux, but at this point it doesn't need to be treated. So, what that boils down to, is NO MORE MEDICINE! I could not be happier about that! We are still active with Mommy's La Leche League group. Mommy's been working really hard training more mommies to become leaders, which means I have more play time with my two good friends, Hannah and Pamela! We started back at story time, and are involved again in the summer reading program. So far, I've heard over 30 books! I also enjoy telling people that I'm going to start learning how to read in the Fall! I can already read a few short words, like "mom", "stop", and "free". (I know those are random, they are just some words Mommy has pointed out in books, and helped me to sound out). We also enjoyed some time at the lakehouse with Grandma and Grandpa, Uncle Steve, and Aunt Chris. I rode the jet ski for the first time, and thought it was really cool. I kept telling Daddy, "faster, faster!" I was proud of myself for trying something new. Grandma and Grandpa set up the play pool in the front yard, so Ansley and I were able to swim. Mommy even got in, and we played mermaids and submarines. I went for a golf cart ride with Grandpa and he showed me where the garbage dump is. I swam in the hottub, and even in the lake! Of course, I did a lot of playing with everyone too. Oh, and Uncle Steve helped me fish. He even let me touch the worm! It was slimy. My pole caught TWO of the fish! I touched those too! They were too small though, and we had to throw them back. I had a few playdates last week, and even attended a messy party! The messy party was awesome! We made pizza and cookies, and finger painted, went on a slip and slide covered in chocolate syrup, had a water balloon fight and everything! This weekend has been really busy too. I spent lots of time with Nana and Papa, plus went to Stroller Strides in the park!

Here I am swimming in the play pool at the lakehouse! It was a little bit cold in the shade, but I was brave!

Gigi Would Be Proud!

Last week was packed full of fun and excitement. Monday I helped Mommy babysit. Tuesday, we went to the mall, where I played at the indoor playground with my friends, had a picnic lunch, and rode the carousel. Mommy had book club that night, so I got to spend some extra time with P. Daddy. Wednedsay, I had my follow up testing done (to see if my surgery worked). I have my appointment with the urologist next week to find out the results, but the techs at the hospital seemed to think everything looked ok. Thursday we went to the Library. I played some computer games and we checked out some books. I'm really excited, because the summer reading program starts this week! Mommy also started reading Chapter books to me. Currently, we're reading the Secret Garden. She reads one Chapter to me before my nap, and one before bedtime. I am DYING to find out if Mary's going to find the key and get into the secret garden!! Anyhow, Friday I had a playdate with a few of my friends at another friends' house. That was fun too. That night, Mommy hosted a fund raiser for LLL, where she and some other mommies babysat a bunch of kids, with the proceeds benefiting their group. We had about 10 kids here total. We spent the majority of the evening playing outside in the front yard. My friends and I played tee ball, soccer, and drove around the yard in the Barbie Jeep. Mommy joked that P. Daddy wouldn't have to mow the yard this weekend, because we'd done a wonderful job of flattening the grass for him! (Of course he mowed anyway!) I also got to stay up late that night, which was a bonus. Saturday, I spent some special time with Lele and Nana. They took me to get Lele's haircut and then to Home Depot, where I built a flower holder all by myself. I got an apron with my name on it. I even got to wear protective eye goggles and use a hammer all by myself! It was cool. Then, Mommy received a package Nana gave us from Great Grandma Gigi. There were a few things Grandma even left for me, like some hair bows. She also left Mommy some clip earrings, which she said are true treasures to remember Gigi by. Mommy let me try them on, and as you can see in the picture, they are quite fancy. Mommy promised to let me wear them for special occassions!

A to the Rescue!

Just when I thought my week couldn't possibly get more exciting- it did!! Mommy and Nana were taking their morning walk to the park and came across this poor turtle. Someone had fished in the pond, and snagged it in the face, with a hook. Mommy came home and told P. Daddy and I, and we all raced to the park to take the turtle to the vet. The vet successfully removed the hook, and we returned the turtle to the park. I had everyone calling me Alicia, because I felt like an official animal rescuer! I also got a new (used) Barbie Jeep from one of my friends (who had outgrown it). Mommy actually got into it with me this week, which was a sight! She's a good sport though, and we had fun driving it around the driveway. I have been doing LOTS of swimming, now that I don't need help. We had a trip to the emergency room this week. Mommy was putting my sister in her carseat (because we were going to a friend's house to swim), and I was messing around outside the car. I squatted down, and she couldn't see me. She accidentally slammed the car door shut on my hand! I screamed, it hurt so bad. Of course, Mommy felt terrible, and we were both crying by the time we reached the hospital. Luckily, Nana got off early, and was able to meet us there, to help with my sister. The doctor took several x-rays of my hand, and luckily none of my bones were broken. I just had some minor swelling, which was gone the following morning. On a lighter note, we had family movie night Friday and watched The Aristocats. We ate ice cream and it was really fun. Then, I talked P. Daddy into having a slumber party with me in my room. It was SOOO cool! I also spent some time at Nana's house this weekend. I showed her how to change the battery in one of the toys in my playhouse, and I think I surprised her by how much I know about fixing things! Nana found a baby opossum nest in her backyard too, which made her scream! Tonight we are meeting some friends out for dinner which shoudl be fun. Mommy has already started planning my birthday party and I cannot wait! I decided on a Little Mermaid theme. The weather has been gorgeous too. We've been spending a LOT of time, especially in the mornings, outside. I like to slide on my slide, blow bubbles, play games with Mommy, and chase my sister around. Mommy has also been researching preschool curriculums for me for the Fall. She found one she likes (we'll be starting homeschool two days a week in the Fall), and she is already planning out a schedule. I'm pretty excited. I am really quite eager to learn how to read.
